Spring Semester Begins after Winter Weather Delay

RALEIGH, N.C. (January 8, 2018) - Wake Tech’s spring 2018 semester began today, a few days late because of recent wintry precipitation. The start of classes for more than 21,000 Wake Tech students was postponed for two days after snow blanketed the area and left roads and parking lots too dangerous for travel.

Students braved still-chilly temperatures on Monday, January 8, to purchase books, obtain student ID badges and parking stickers, and familiarize themselves with campus locations.

Wake Tech has five campuses and three training centers across Wake County. Its sixth campus will open in RTP later this year. Wake Tech’s oldest campus, on US 401 south of Raleigh, was renamed the Southern Wake Campus last fall to better reflect its place among the college’s multiple locations. Wake Tech is the largest of North Carolina’s 58 community colleges, and was recently ranked the top online community college in the United States.
