RALEIGH, N.C. (May 9, 2026) – More than 100 adult learners marked a major milestone Saturday as they crossed the graduation stage with high school credentials.
Wake Tech celebrated the achievements of 106 graduates in the college's Adult High School (AHS), High School Equivalency Preparation (HSEP) and High School Equivalency for Seasonal Workers (HEP) programs during a special graduation ceremony at the Scott Northern Wake Campus.
Surrounded by family, friends and supporters, graduates were recognized for their determination and perseverance. Many overcame personal, academic and professional challenges to complete their education and take the next step toward new opportunities.
Student speakers Omar Jackson, Lena Trochez Medina and Yohana Bernal Loboguerrero addressed classmates and shared messages of encouragement and resilience.
Jackson reflected on his educational journey, which included completing Wake Tech's Adult High School program and a non‑degree electrical wiring certificate through the Integrated Education and Training (IET) program. He plans to pursue a degree in Business Administration at Wake Tech and eventually open his own electrical company.
"To everyone graduating today, I just want to say I'm proud of you," Jackson said. "It doesn't matter how many times you fell. What matters is that you got back up."
Trochez spoke about the strength and perseverance of the graduating class from the HEP program.
"Just like me, I know you have all overcome barriers, difficult moments and the greatest obstacle of all: fear," she said. "Today, we celebrate conquering that fear and claiming victory together."
