Electrical Apprenticeship Level 2

This course continues instruction for work as an Electrical Apprentice in new construction and on remodeling and renovation projects. It covers alternating current, motor theory and application, electrical conduit bending and installation, pull and junction boxes, conductor types and installation, conductor terminations and splices, cable trays, grounding and bonding of electrical systems, circuit breakers and fuses, electric lighting, and control systems and their fundamental concepts. Electrical Level 2 is the second course in the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) curriculum for Electrical Apprenticeship.

Course Objectives

learn new skills required of a second year Electrical Apprentice. Students will develop knowledge, skills and abilities related to alternating current, motor theory and application, electrical conduit bending and installation, pull and junction boxes, conductor types and installation, conductor terminations and splices, cable trays, grounding and bonding of electrical systems, circuit breakers and fuses, electric lighting, and control systems and their fundamental concepts.

Certification

Students who successfully complete the requirements for this course will be eligible to receive certification from NCCER and will receive credit for completion of the second year of training as an Electrical Apprentice.

Text and Supplies Needed

NCCER Electrical Level Two Trainee Guide. Also needed - National Electrical Code.

Clinical Site/Special Facilities

Electrical Lab where students can perform hands on assessments

Requirements for Successful Completion

80% attendance
Passed written tests for each subject with a minimum grade of 70%,Successfully completed all hands-on performance assessments
