Community Policing for the Patrol Officer

This 40-hour certification course includes 16 hours of classroom instruction followed by eight hours of online assignments (over a four-week period) and 16 additional classroom hours. It is a condensed version of a highly-acclaimed Community Policing Certification Course developed for the Raleigh PD by a police officer who was embedded in an at-risk community for five years. It is a mix of "boots on the ground" experience and research, integrating different policing strategies to produce a functional, real-world application for everyday patrol operations. It covers beat management, crime prevention through environmental design, apartment community policing and landlord/tenant relationships, and how to use HUD regulations as a tool in law enforcement.

Define problems as they relate to COP and POP.
