Principles of Police Supervision

This course presents a broad perspective on police supervision and the tools needed to become an effective supervisor. The course includes lecture and discussion covering a wide variety of topics. It is designed for supervisors who need to establish themselves as leaders in their agencies.

Course Objectives

Understand Leadership styles.

Discuss and understand good and bad attributes of supervisors.

Examine work ethics discipline as it pertains to supervision.

Discuss and determine how to conduct effective terminations with employees.

Explain how to deal with conflict and resolutions with employees.

Examine the skills needed to properly prepare employee evaluations and reviews.

Present and discuss legal issues pertaining to subordinate evaluations.
