Protective Orders: Their Uses and Related Offenses

This course examines the NC General Statutes of Protective Orders and explores how to obtain, serve, and enforce those orders.

Course Objectives

Define 50B, 50C and 50D of the NC General Statutes.

Differentiate between Chapters 50B, 50C and 50D of the NC General Statutes.

Describe arrest procedures for violation of 50B and 50D.

Explain the service process for Chapters 50B, 50C and 50D.

Explain the information needed to expedite the service of the various orders.

List and identify other N.C. Statutes that are related to domestic violence orders.

Explain how and when a Show Cause Order is used.

Explain warrantless arrest as it pertains to Protective Orders.
