This class is designed to introduce those officers newly promoted to investigator/detective, those officers soon to be promoted or patrol officers with investigative responsibilities. This course will familarize the student with the circumstances of a crime, the search for interview, interrogation and statement information, and the search for physical evidence. Students will learn the qualities of a successful investigator, how an investigators performance can affect the investigation, the major tasks every investigator should attempt to answer and how to identify a suspect and additional leads. Various investigative methods will be discussed. Case studies will also be presented.

Course Objectives
