Integrated Drug and Contraband Interdiction

The purpose of integrated (domestic) drug and contraband interdiction operations is to target criminal organizations, groups, or gangs who transport illegal drugs throughout the United States via legitimate enterprises. The course covers investigative methodologies for the detection and interdiction of the illicit drugs and contraband items (small arms weapons, bulk currency, etc.) that flow through the nation's airports, trains and buses, parcel/package and freight shipping companies, and other commercial means of transportation.

Course Objectives

Describe the basic concept and strategy of domestic multifarious drug interdiction initiatives.

Define the priorities set forth for consensual encounters.

State and explain the general rule of consent.

List the eight key facts on consent.

Distinguish between a consensual encounter and a detention or arrest.

Explain the purpose of a knock and talk investigative procedure.
