This class will present to the student the purpose, value, and components of law enforcement reports in conjunction with the proper methods used in preparing these documents. Topics include: The importance of field notes and how they are used in developing a report; Definition of terms; The purpose of preparing a report; Common errors found in an incident and use of force report; Requirement of report writing; The value of proofreading; and The proper way to articulate common use of force techniques used in a detention setting. Video scenarios are given to the student in order for them to compose five written reports.

List the purpose for preparing a report.
