learn more advanced skills required of a fourth year Electrical Apprentice. Students will develop knowledge, skills and abilities in areas such as electrical system load calculations for feeders and services, electrical requirements for health care facilities, standby and emergency power systems, basics of electronics theory, fire alarm systems, and specialty transformers and their appropriate use. Students will also be trained in the use of advanced controls, HVAC controls, heat tracing and freeze protection systems, motor operation and maintenance, medium-voltage terminations and splices, electrical requirements for specialized locations, and fundamentals of crew leadership. Finally, students will receive OSHA 30-Hour Safety Training for the Construction Industry.
