Electrical Apprenticeship Level 1

This course introduces the basics of working in the electrical field and prepares students for entry-level employment in electrical contracting companies, at new construction sites and on remodeling and renovation projects. Topics will include an occupational overview of the electrical trade, safety for electricians, introduction to electrical circuits, electrical theory, the National Electrical Code (NEC), the use of device boxes, hand bending, wireways, raceways and fittings, conductors and cables, basic electrical construction document interpretation, residential wiring, and Electrical Test Equipment. Electrical Apprenticeship Level 1 is the first electrical course in the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) curriculum for Electrical Apprenticeship.

Course Objectives

learn the basics of the Electrical Trade including an occupational overview of the electrical industry, electrical safety, the basics of electrical circuits, electrical theory, the National Electrical Code, the use of device boxes, conduit bending, wireways, raceways and fittings, conductors and cables, basic electrical construction document interpretation, residential electrical services, and electrical test equipment.
