Derieux Research Awards

The annual conference is an important forum for Collegiate Academy
(CANCAS) ( students to present their research. Presentations will be judged on Friday and Saturday of the conference, and Derieux Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Research will be presented at an Awards Ceremony on Saturday evening.

Winners of first place awards will be invited to submit a full manuscript of their research to the Journal of the North Carolina Academy of Science, ( the official journal of the NCAS. Manuscripts will be subject to the same peer review process as required of all manuscripts, regardless of their source.

Call for Judges and Session Moderators

A minimum of two Derieux Awards judges are needed for each subject area within a session. A grading rubric for poster and oral presentations will be provided. Posters will be presented and judged on Friday, March 23, from 6:00-7:30 PM. Oral presentations will be presented and judged on Saturday, March 24, from 8:30-9:45 AM (Session I) and 9:50-11:05 AM (Session II). There will be a mandatory judges and moderators meeting prior to either the posters or oral sessions.

Moderators are needed to lead each oral paper session. Besides the two morning sessions noted above, a third session will run from 3:15-4:30 PM on Saturday, March 25th. Moderators can be faculty or students.
