Mathematics & Sciences
The Mathematics & Sciences Division provides quality instruction in the areas of life sciences, mathematics and physical sciences. The courses offered support the general education needs of all students at Wake Tech and prepare students for STEM careers. Our programs promote learning-centered environments that equip all students with the knowledge and skills necessary to complete their educational journey, enter the workforce, enhance their current employment opportunities or transfer to university or college.
Programs
The Associate in Science (AS) degree provides a solid general education foundation for students who want to pursue a four-year degree in areas of study such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, the sciences or professional programs that require a strong background in mathematics and sciences. Associate degree programs are part of the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, which facilitates the transfer of students between institutions in the North Carolina Community College System and the University of North Carolina System.
Programs provide a foundation for pursuing a four-year degree in math, science, computers, or other disciplines requiring a strong math and science background.
Departments
The Life Sciences Department offers courses in Biology for the University Transfer programs of study leading to Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Sciences (AS) and Associate in Engineering (AE) degrees. In addition, the department offers classes in Biology to support the technical programs offered by the college, including those leading to a degree in Associate in Applied Science (AAS).
The Mathematics & Physics Department offers courses in Astronomy, Mathematics (including Statistics) and Physics for the University Transfer programs of study leading to Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Sciences (AS) and Associate in Engineering (AE) degrees. In addition, the department offers classes in Mathematics and Physics to support the technical programs offered by the college, including those leading to a degree in Associate in Applied Science (AAS).
The Physical Sciences Department offers courses in Chemistry and Geology for the university transfer programs of study leading to Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Sciences (AS) and Associate in Engineering (AE) degrees. In addition, the department offers classes in Chemistry and Geology to support the technical programs offered by the college, including those leading to a degree in Associate in Applied Science (AAS).
