College Leadership
New Health Sciences Provost Named
RALEIGH, N.C. (June 24, 2026) – Wake Tech is pleased to announce that Dr. Jennifer Bray has been selected as the next provost of Health Sciences.
In this role, she will lead Wake Tech's Nursing and Health Sciences programs and the Perry Health Sciences Campus, providing strategic and operational leadership for the campus while overseeing key partnerships that support academic excellence and workforce development. Her appointment comes at a pivotal time as the college expands its Health Sciences offerings and prepares to open its state-of-the-art Perry Family Simulation Hospital.
Bringing more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning higher education and healthcare, Bray served as dean of Health Sciences at Kilgore College in Texas, where she oversaw nursing, allied health and workforce development programs. Throughout her career, she has led initiatives that strengthened academic quality, expanded educational opportunities and improved student outcomes.
Among her accomplishments, Bray has demonstrated a strong record of advancing nursing and allied health education. At Kilgore College, she led a remarkable turnaround of the nursing program, achieving a 100 percent NCLEX pass rate for three consecutive years and successfully guiding accreditation reviews by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the Texas Board of Nursing with no findings.
She also secured more than $1.3 million in grant funding and led the development of an innovative nursing apprenticeship model in partnership with CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System. Selected as part of a competitive implementation cohort supported by the Trellis Foundation and UpSkill America at the Aspen Institute, the initiative expanded clinical training opportunities, strengthened workforce pathways and created new learn-and-earn opportunities for nursing students.
In addition, she launched new programs, including Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Community Health Worker pathways, earned initial accreditation for the Surgical Technology program and expanded workforce-aligned training opportunities to meet regional healthcare needs.
"Dr. Bray brings a unique combination of academic leadership, healthcare expertise and workforce-focused innovation," said Wake Tech President Dr. Scott Ralls. "As we prepare to open our Perry Family Simulation Hospital and expand opportunities for students pursuing careers in healthcare, her experience building strong programs and partnerships will help position Wake Tech to meet the growing workforce needs of our region."
Bray holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Arkansas State University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Newman University.
She begins her new role on July 13.
Wake Tech is North Carolina's largest community college, serving more than 72,000 students annually, with seven campuses, a workforce training center, multiple community sites across Wake County and a comprehensive array of online learning options.
