The Student Success Peer Leader Program connects new students with experienced mentors. Wake Tech's Peer Leaders understand the challenges of college life and are here to provide guidance, share their wisdom and experiences and support students through their college journey.
Peer Leaders draw from their own experiences as students and mentor others, increasing the sense of belonging and community at Wake Tech. They provide a variety of support, including study skills, time management, connection and resources.
Benefits of connecting with a Peer Leader:
Peer Leaders are Certified Peer Educators through the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

I'm a Peer Leader because ... there were many times during my journey of returning to school when I felt lost, helpless and out of place. After discovering the many resources available at Wake Tech and using them to improve my own experience, I want to help other students feel welcome, supported and confident in their academic journey.
When I was a first-year student, I wish I knew ... how often I should be reaching out to student services. Student support, especially the Care Center, can help students navigate challenges before they become overwhelming. During my first year, I viewed the Care Center as a resource to use only when I was struggling. Later, I learned how valuable student services can be in helping students proactively achieve their academic goals. Life is unpredictable, and having support can make difficult situations much less intimidating.
