Psychosocial Aspects of Aging in Emergency Care

This course will focus on both the physiologic and psychosocial needs of the aging patient related to the provision of emergency care. Topics include polypharmacy, the pathophysiology of aging, illness & injury prevention, societal perceptions of the aged, elder abuse, and end-of-life care. Upon completion, students will gain a better understanding of the holistic process of aging.
