Wake Tech is closed December 24 through January 4 for winter break and will reopen January 5. Prospective students can still apply for enrollment online during the break, and continuing students can register for Spring semester classes, which start January 7.
The Diesel & Heavy Equipment Technology AAS Degree provides individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to troubleshoot and repair medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
The core course work includes the theory of operations, troubleshooting techniques and repair procedures for engines, electrical and hydraulic systems. Other courses cover transmissions, brakes and steering/suspension.
Graduates should qualify for entry-level employment opportunities at businesses that repair medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. Entry and advancement levels depend on the amount of training completed, knowledge and ability levels, work performance and ethics.
