The Student Government Association (SGA) is the campus organization that represents the interests of all Wake Tech students and serves as a liaison between the faculty and administration and students.
All Wake Tech students are cordially invited – and strongly encouraged – to get involved with the SGA. Each curriculum student is required to pay the Student Activities Fee and is, therefore, a member of the SGA and governed by its rules and regulations.
"The Wake Tech Student Government Association is dedicated to building a vibrant, inclusive and united campus community where every student feels valued, supported and heard. Our focus is empowering all students by creating opportunities for personal growth, networking, student connection and success throughout their college journey. Through these efforts, we aim to enhance the overall college experience for everyone at Wake Tech."
SGA General Business Meetings are held at 2 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month (August through November and January through April), unless a holiday falls on that day. All SGA senators and Executive Board members attend the meetings, as do club representatives and students. It's a great place to let your voice be heard.
Meetings are conducted online via Microsoft Teams, and students also can attend at either of these locations:
Southern Wake Campus
Montague Hall (Building M), Room 343
Scott Northern Wake Campus
Building D, Room 401
Hello! My name is Faith Cabbell, and I am honored to serve as the Student Government Association president for Wake Tech for 2026-27. I am currently pursuing my studies in Information Technology: Software Development and Cosmetology. I am passionate about leveraging technology, analytical problem-solving and strategic organizational leadership to improve the student experience.
As president, my primary initiative is focused on enhancing campus accessibility and breaking down structural barriers, particularly regarding student transportation and regional transit infrastructure, to ensure every student has an equal opportunity to succeed.
Outside of my leadership role with the SGA, I work on campus in the Financial Aid Office, gaining direct insight into student resources, and I maintain a dedicated personal fitness routine centered on health and endurance.
I look forward to a collaborative, impactful academic year advocating for the entire Wake Tech community.
Eagles! I'm honored to serve as your vice president. I'm Etoo Owaraga, and in the fall of 2025, I joined Wake Tech and promptly entered a toxic relationship with Associate in Science and Associate in Engineering degrees. It's complicated, but we're making it work.
On campus, I am an active member of the Film Club, the Math Club, and Coffee and Classics. Those spaces taught me that community is what transforms the college experience from something you endure alone into something you build together. Whether it's debating films, solving equations or discussing literature, I have seen firsthand how a shared space can turn strangers into people who consistently show up for each other. That is the VP I intend to be.
Outside of SGA, I am an uncle to some of the best nieces and nephews in the world, a devoted Jeopardy! watcher and a performative male on occasion.
But more than anything, I am here for you. Stop me on the sidewalk, send me an email, slide into my inbox with a concern, a question or even just a hello. No issue is too small or insignificant.
Wake Tech Eagles, I cannot wait to serve you.
Hi Wake Tech! My name is Sheila Kouchoelo, and I am honored to serve as your SGA secretary for the 2026-27 academic year. I am originally from Benin, Africa, and I moved to the United States two years ago.
I am currently in my second year at Wake Tech, pursuing an Associate of Science degree with plans to transfer to a four-year university, where I intend to major in Data Science and Business Administration.
On campus, I am actively involved in the Film Club, the Voice Acting and Animation Club, and the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society, and I look forward to joining even more organizations soon.
Teaching and tutoring are a big part of my life. As a fluent French speaker, I provide one-on-one tutoring and volunteer at the FLTLC, supporting students who are learning the language. I am also excited to serve as a Peer Tutor this academic year. Outside of Wake Tech, I serve at my church as a teacher for third-grade children preparing for their First Communion. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, crocheting, video games and anime.
Sundays are especially meaningful to me, as I serve my church community by ushering or assisting at the altar, experiences that bring me closer to both my faith and my community.
My goal for this year is to improve communication at Wake Tech so students are more aware of the many resources and opportunities available to them. As an ESL student myself, I am passionate about ensuring that ESL students feel included, understand American culture and know that they belong to a supportive community here at Wake Tech.
I am excited and deeply grateful for this opportunity. I am here to serve, connect and make a positive impact within our Wake Tech community. Please feel free to reach out. I am always happy to meet and connect with you!
Hello, Wake Tech! My name is Louis Huggins, and I am your SGA treasurer for the 2026-27 academic year. I am a Construction Management Technology student at Wake Tech, with a strong interest in how projects, systems and finances operate efficiently. My goal is to build a solid foundation in both construction and business while developing real-world skills that lead to long-term success.
I value responsibility, organization and clear communication, and I take my commitments seriously. While I am continuing to develop my leadership experience, I am willing to learn quickly and contribute in meaningful ways. Outside of academics, I am interested in financial markets, hands-on work and understanding how things are built and function.
My focus as treasurer is promoting transparency and ensuring student funds are used responsibly and effectively to benefit the student body.
Hello, everybody! My name is Alex Ortega-Saucedo, and I'm honored to serve as your public information officer for the 2026-2027 school year.
I am a second-year student at Wake Tech on the pre-medical track, pursuing an Associate in Science, with plans to transfer to a four-year university to major in biology. Wake Tech has made me appreciate and fall in love with natural sciences. I hope to one day translate this passion into a medical setting and become a medical professional that can lead, help and make a change.
As public information officer, my goal is to keep the students of Wake Tech up to date with SGA. I believe we can work together to not just make an impact on the students of Wake Tech, but the greater Triangle area. I look forward to everything we will do this year. Thank you very much for the opportunity.
"Being part of SGA has been the greatest part of my academic journey."
