Wake Tech is closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. Prospective students can still apply online, and current students can register for Summer and Fall classes. The college will reopen Tuesday morning.
The Birth-Kindergarten Licensure AAS Degree prepares Wake Tech students to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete B-K licensure. Holding this licensure qualifies people to work as lead teachers in public pre-K and kindergarten classrooms.
Students gain both theoretical and practical knowledge in areas such as child development, child guidance, health and safety, nutrition and family engagement. This knowledge is reinforced through direct experience with young children in real-world settings under the supervision of qualified teachers.
The Program Planning Guide outlines the courses that are required for the degree.
Graduates are well-prepared to continue their education at a four-year institution to obtain their B-K license. Wake Tech maintains partnerships with many colleges and universities across North Carolina, ensuring a seamless transfer process for students.
