Maintenance of facilities has become one of the most important aspects of construction. Buildings have increased technologies and are more efficient, allowing them to keep up with current customer demands. Plus, the variety of equipment required in these structures needs personnel trained to troubleshoot and deal with any problem.
Facility Maintenance Technology is a multi-trades program that combines the fundamentals of HVAC, electrical and plumbing to provide students with a core set of skills needed to maintain and troubleshoot problems in various systems within a high-occupancy residential or commercial facility.
With the addition of building automation to the curriculum, students work with the latest technologies, where their training will develop skills desirable for the current building industry upon graduation.
Course work includes electrical, electronics, air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, building automation, blueprint reading, building codes and OSHA regulations, as well as computer applications.
Graduates should qualify for positions as general building mechanics or maintenance technician.
