College Closed for Memorial Day

Wake Tech is closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. Prospective students can still apply online, and current students can register for Summer and Fall classes. The college will reopen Tuesday morning.

Resources for Parents and Caregivers of Students with Disabilities

Beltline Education Center resources

  • Pathfinder Career Exploration: For adults with intellectual disabilities who want to prepare for the workplace and further their education.
  • Adult Basic Education: For individuals who need assistance to get their skills to the high school level so they can obtain an equivalency degree. Provides instruction in reading, writing, math and technology skills. Morning, afternoon and evening classes are offered at several locations throughout Wake County.
  • College & Career Readiness Transitions: For individuals who want to explore or train for a new career while improving their English skills or working toward their high school credential.
  • English as a Second Language: ESL provides English language instruction for the workplace to adult, non-native-English-speaking residents of Wake County.
    NOTE: English as a second language is not considered a disability. However, if you have a documented disability, we are able to provide accommodations for all courses, including ESL courses.

In college, students with disabilities receive accommodations under the ADA rather than IDEA, which applies in K-12. This means that individuals with a documented disability must self-identify – disclose their need for accommodations – to Disability Support Services. DSS then determines their eligibility for accommodations.

These services may look different than K-12 services, so contact the student's coordinator with any questions.
