The Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation (ASTP) is a university transfer degree for students interested in becoming licensed elementary school, middle school, high school or special education teachers. The program is tailored for individuals with an interest in teaching STEM subjects: science, technology, engineering and math.
Students take 60 credit hours of college transfer courses. That gives them the opportunity to transfer as a junior to any of 15 University of North Carolina System institutions or a number of private colleges and universities in North Carolina. Students, of course, must meet admission requirements at these schools.
In addition to 45 credit hours of general education courses, ASTP degree students complete a social diversity course, as well as the following four teacher education courses:

Tuition is set annually by the State Board of Community Colleges. Wake Tech charges various fees in addition to tuition, and individual programs also have specific costs associated with them.
