Ever wonder how beer came to be one of the world's favorite beverages? Join Wake Tech for an entertaining journey through beer history and find out!

Led by local craft brewing professionals, "The Tale of Ale" explores the development of beer styles through the ages. Students will discover how politics, technology, and trade advanced ale from cauldrons over fire to a globally produced and traded beverage. Each class meets one time and covers a distinctive topic at a local craft brewery. Together we'll dive into a time of alewives, brewsters, kings and queens, when one of the most important laws of the land was beer law!

Classes are designed to be taken individually, allowing participants to pay per class or topic. Whether you're interested in delving into the origins of beer or exploring the latest trends in craft brewing, "The Tale of Ale" promises an enjoyable learning experience for all.
Course Objectives
  1. Enjoy learning about the origins of brewing and the history of beer in a fun, laid-back setting.
Outline of Instruction
  1. Class meets one time for instruction at a local brewery. Each class will cover a unique beer history subject. Possible topics include:

    -Europe, Trade, & Beer
    -Brewing in the United States
    -The Industrialization of Beer
    -The Origins of Modern Styles
