Youth Summer Camp for Teens
Description
Tailored for teens and pre-teens, this fun class is for any skill level, using any digital video camera or digital stills camera (DSLR, mirrorless, advanced point and shoot), with Shutter Priority (S or Tv) or Manual (M) mode and video capabilities. Students will learn about setting exposure and frame rates; composition; how to do pedestal, reveal, and rack focus shots; and use of a slide. Bring your camera to class.
Course Objectives
  1. Pre-visualize and record video footage of events for documentary purposes, incorporate creative techniques such as reveals, pedestal shots, rack focus, sliders, steady cam and more.
Outline of Instruction
  1. Day 1: Self Introductions to Camp Members (Name, Camera type, What subjects they like to video, What they hope to get from the Camp), Course overview, Buddy Assignments, Learn camera buttons and menus, Fun exercises, Homework assignment, Identify video questions to prepare responses throughout week.
  2. Day 2 – Announce schedule for the day, Review and critique homework, General video discussion, Morning exercise (outdoors when possible), Lunch, Afternoon exercise (outdoors when possible), Steady Cam and Slider practice, Review and critique daily exercise video footage, Homework assignment.
  3. Day 3 – Announce schedule for the day, Review and critique homework, General video discussion, Morning exercise (outdoors when possible), Lunch, Afternoon exercise (outdoors when possible) Steady Cam and Slider practice, Review and critique daily exercise video footage, Homework assignment.
  4. Day 4 – Announce schedule for the day, Review and critique homework, General video discussion, Morning exercise (outdoors when possible), Lunch, Afternoon exercise (outdoors when possible) Steady Cam and Slider practice, Review and critique daily exercise video footage, Homework assignment.
