Registered Plumbing and Pipefitting Apprentices
Description
Part 1 of Level 2 presents more advanced concepts related to plumbing and pipefitting, including oxy-fuel cutting, water supplies, drainage, and related sciences and services. These occupational skills are necessary for work as an apprentice in plumbing and pipefitting. Apprentices generally work in construction environments; potential hazards include but are not limited to extreme temperatures, dust, noise, and others typical on construction sites.
Part 1 of Level 3 covers advanced information on plumbing codes, gas installation, pumps, hydronic heating and cooling, steam systems, and startup, testing and balancing of plumbing systems.
Apprentices can expect to work in typical construction or manufacturing environments. Potential workplace hazards include, but are not limited to, extreme temperatures, dust, noise, and other hazards.
Course Objectives
  1. have an understanding of Oxy-Fuel Cutting, Water Supplies, Drainage, Related Services, Related Sciences, and a more in depth understanding of Plumbing Codes. Level 3 students will have an understanding of Gas Installation, pumps, Hydronic Heating and Cooling, Steam Systems, Startup, Testing and Balancing Systems, and an advanced level of understanding of Plumbing Codes and Plumbing Fixtures.

  2. Participation
  3. Pass all written exams with a minimum grade of 70%
  4. Successfully complete hands on demonstrations of skills
