Description
In this fascinating course, you’ll learn to read and interpret blueprints – a skill that’s critical for manufacturing products to meet specifications and making sure finished parts function as intended! This course covers the three major elements of a blueprint: drawing, dimensions, and notes; and you’ll gain a thorough understanding of each. You’ll read and interpret drawings in class and complete assignments online.
Course Objectives
  1. Have the ability to Identify the three basic elements of a blueprint and explain what an orthographic view is and the six possible basic views.
  2. Have the ability to Distinguish between auxiliary and section views, Identify the types of section views and Identify how section views are displayed.
  3. Have the ability to Describe how to show part edges and Identify how to indicate dimensions.
  4. Have the ability to Describe the appearance and use of center, break, hidden and phantom lines.
  5. Have the ability to Identify the dimensions on a blueprint, Describe and interpret descriptive dimensions and Describe and interpret functional dimensions.
  6. Have the ability to Describe the appearance and use of notes.
  7. have the ability to Explain how to use scale and tolerance information on a print and Demonstrate a thorough understanding of reading basic blue prints for parts and assemblies.
