Intended Audience
Students who have passed "Digital Photography: Level 1" or have the equivalent in experience.
Description
Expand on your basic photography knowledge and take your skills to the next level! Learn to master manual mode photography, use Hyperfocal Distance and capture Landscapes and Panoramas. In this second level digital photography course you will understand and manipulate ambient light, use fill flash to enhance natural light, set camera options to enhance creativity, use photography apps, shoot HDR imagery, read Histograms, use advanced composition techniques, pose groups and individuals, and more.
Course Objectives
  1. Students will understand and utilize camera handling, shutters, apertures, ISO, portrait guidelines, lighting and other refined techniques to improve their photography skills.
Outline of Instruction
  1. Introductions, Goals, Buddy System, Focus & Recompose, Metering, Focal Point, Tracking, White Balance, Exposure (Aperture, Shutter and ISO), Set Camera Functions for Enhanced Creativity, Homework Assignment.
  2. Manual Mode Depth of Field (DoF) practice, Histograms, Focus & Recompose, Exposure Simulation, Understanding and Manipulating Ambient Light, Group and Individual Posing, Handout Review, Homework Critique, Homework Assignment.
  3. Manual Mode Action/Motion, Histograms, Candids, using photography apps, using a tripod or monopod, Exposure Simulation, Handout Review, Homework Critique, Homework Assignment.
  4. Manual Mode Depth of Field (DoF) practice, Group and Individual Posing, Histograms, HDR, Hyperfocal Distance, Landscapes & Panoramas, Handout Review, Homework Critique, Homework Assignment.

Text and Supplies Needed
This course is designed for any interchangeable lens camera with Manual mode, such as a DSLR or mirrorless camera. Advanced bridge cameras with manual mode and a permanently attached lens can be used as well. An external flash is recommended, but one built into the camera will work.
Clinical Site/Special Facilities
Off Campus trips will be utilized for field experience.
