Description
Prepare for entry-level employment as a Plumbing Apprentice working with Plumbing Contractors at new construction sites and on remodeling and renovation projects.
This course introduces basic topics and skills required of Plumbing Apprentices. This is the first course in the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) curriculum for the Plumbing Apprenticeship.
Course Objectives
  1. understand the basics of the Plumbing Profession, including Plumbing Safety, Tools and Equipment, and their proper use,
  2. develop a basic understanding of Plumbing Math and Plumbing Drawings and how they are used on a job site,
  3. have a basic knowledge of the characteristics, as well as the proper methods of installation, of the different types of piping and fittings used in Plumbing, such as plastic, copper, cast-iron, and carbon steel,
  4. understand the different types of plumbing fixtures and learn their proper application in relation to plumbing codes, and
  5. have a basic understanding of Drain, Waste and Vent (DWV) Systems, and Water Distribution Systems and how they are connected to public sewer and water systems.

Plumbing Level One Trainee Guide, published by NCCER in partnership with Pearson.
Clinical Site/Special Facilities
Must have access to Plumbing Lab to teach hands-on activities.
Requirements for Successful Completion of this Course
  1. Attendance 80% or above
  2. Participation
  3. Successfully completed all module exams with a minimum score of 70%
  4. Successfully completed all hands-on assessments
