Wake Tech Flex (Competency-Based Education)
WAKE TECH FLEX is a competency-based education (CBE) model that may expedite a student’s opportunity to earn a degree. Students can move quickly through course material they are familiar with and spend more time on competencies they are less familiar with. Courses are set up in an eight-week online format, with occasional campus visits required. A student can concentrate on one or more courses for 8 weeks and then another course or more for the next eight weeks instead of spreading out all their courses over 16 weeks. A student may enroll in a new course every four weeks.
An information session will be held at the Southern Wake Campus on Monday, June 25, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The event will be held in Building E, Room 114. Those interested in attending should register here in advance, or call 919-866-5357.
Wake Tech Flex is currently offered for two Computer Technologies programs:
- Network Management
- Software Development (Computer Programming)
Since WAKE TECH FLEX acknowledges prior learning, training, and experience, the format best fits the adult learner who is college ready and may already qualify for course credit (see industry certification chart below). Emphasis is placed on mastering all competencies at an 80% or greater level, demonstrating to industry your job readiness.
