State funds allocated by the NC General Assembly for minority male mentoring are sent to the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) for disbursement to community colleges with mentoring programs. NCCCS and the UNC system are working collaboratively, through a UNC-GA College Access Challenge Grant, to integrate programming and smooth the transition of minority males into the state’s four-year universities.
Male Mentoring Fund
The Wake Tech Foundation’s Male Mentoring Fund allows college faculty and staff to support the minority male mentoring initiative with designated contributions. Many give monthly to the fund, which offers assistance with books and tuition for student mentees with financial need.
