Introduction to Mobile Field Force Operations

This course will familiarize students with the psychological aspects of crowds, and present procedures used by law enforcement officers to control crowds, demonstrations, and civil disorders.

Course Objectives

Identify the three different categories of crowds and give an example of each.

Identify the tactics used to counter the social and psychological influences of crowd behavior.

Compare and contract the duties of a law enforcement officer when patrolling a non-violent/passive protest and a potentially violent/hostile demonstration.

Demonstrate proper crowd control formations, using the riot baton to control/restrain crowd movement.
