WHO WE ARE
Pathways 3MP is a program under the auspices of the North Carolina Community College System, institutionally developed in partnership with Wake Tech administration, student services staff and students to address the educational disparities of minority males in the areas of college retention and graduation.
Program participation is voluntary and is primarily comprised of minority male students who desire to have a supportive network that fosters and nurtures academic excellence. We encourage our students to embrace academic responsibility and success by being positive role models for each other, forming strong commitments to academic achievement, brotherhood and service. Pathways 3MP obtains its membership primarily through recruiting efforts at campus events and an ACA (academic study skills) course taught by the program coordinator, along with program-sponsored events and faculty/staff referrals across Wake Tech campuses. Pathways 3MP continues in its efforts to have a voice around and a place within the Wake Tech community. In addition, it seeks to offer the support necessary to assist program mentees in finishing their degree programs both timely and successfully.
From a system-wide perspective, the male mentoring program is structured around four objectives. They are: successful transition from developmental to curriculum courses, retention of students, graduation from curriculum and transfer to a four-year college or university.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Pathways is to increase the success rates of the Wake Tech minority male population in the areas of academic growth, retention, and graduation. We plan to do this by way of mentoring through exposure to academic, social, and career-based activities and opportunities.
