Description
This course provides hands-on experience in the basic set up of a small business accounting system. It help students understand the financial management of a business, including standard financial statements important for most small businesses, how transactions affect financial statements, and how financial statements affect taxes and the ability to borrow money for future growth. Setting up financial management systems early and properly will contribute to the long-term health of a business.
Course Objectives
  1. Develop and overall understanding of how QuickBooks works.
  2. Select a Business Entity type for tax purposes.
  3. Create a company profile.
  4. Set-up the chart of accounts.
  5. Set up customers and vendors.
  6. Set up sales items for billing customers.
  7. Setup to prepare 1099’s and payroll versus contract labor.
  8. Setup and reconcile bank accounts and credit cards.
  9. Understand how input into QB comes together on your Financial Statements.
  10. Create customized reports & work with memorized transactions.

  1. Intro to QuickBooks.
  2. Intro to Accounting Terminology.
  3. Setting up a Company file.
  4. Setting up your Chart of Accounts.
  5. Working with Lists.
  6. Setting up Customers and Vendors.
  7. Setting up sales items.
  8. Invoicing your customers
  9. Recording payments from customers & applying credits or discounts.
  10. Making deposits.
  11. A/R reports .
  12. Entering bills to pay & paying bills.
  13. Purchase orders.
  14. Sales tax
  15. Reconciling bank account or credit card account.
  16. Reports in QuickBooks.
  17. Creating memorized reports and transactions.
  18. Reviewing financial statements.
  19. Understanding of financial statements and how they affect your taxes and ability to borrow money.
