Description
The increasing demand on healthcare providers requires medical offices to invest in highly skilled billers and coders. Learn how to use standard codes from CPT, ICD-10-CM and HCPCS Level II. Develop the skills necessary to take the Certified Professional Coder Exam and begin a rewarding career.
Course Objectives
  1. Explain the importance of medical coding to reimbursement and the billing cycle.
  2. Identify all aspects of HIPAA.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of the ICD-10-CM manual and locate diagnosis codes after abstracting key information from the medical record.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of CPT evaluation & management and locate correct codes from the CPT manual.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of the CPT/HCPCS manuals and locate procedure codes after abstracting key information from the medical record.
  6. Apply the coding conventions and guidelines; identify the correct process for selecting codes; and analyze the types of coding errors to avoid.
