Description
Explore a career as a caseworker for the Division of Social Services (DSS). In this intensive, hands-on, interactive course, you’ll get an overview of DSS and the NCFAST Data Entry System. Learn about data entry, keyboarding, interviewing, workplace success and customer service. Discover general DSS and NCFAST terminology, basic navigation skills in the NCFAST system; and the Work Keys assessment. The course is Phase I of a two-part training program that can serve as a pathway to further training. DSS partnered with The Capital Area Workforce Development Board to offer this great opportunity for you!
Course Objectives
  1. have demonstrated a basic understanding/proficiency in the following:
  2. entry-level skills required to be an employee of DSS;
  3. basic computer and keyboarding skills;
  4. interviewing skills and resumes;
  5. workplace success skills;
  6. customer service skills;
  7. DSS and NC FAST terminology;
  8. basic navigation skills and FNS application in the NC FAST system.

Requirements for Successful Completion of this Course
  1. Attendance 90% or above
  2. Participation
  3. Evaluation Methodology: This is a non-credit course and assessments will be used to verify student’s readiness to progress to Phase II of this program based on demonstrated skills, test scores and participation in class activities.
  4. Grading Requirement: This is a pass/fail course based upon the successful completion of course tests and attainment of a Career Readiness Certificate (any level).
  5. Students must attend, at minimum, 90% of class hours and actively participate in class activities in order to successfully complete the class and receive a certificate.
