Description
Preparing and showcasing your communication skills to any audience is a required skill that increases your chances of finding and keeping employment. Learn practical tips and techniques for planning key messages, structuring your delivery, and creating an interesting and effective presentation by knowing your audience. You will assess your own skills and those of your peers - creating an opportunity to practice giving and receiving feedback. Learn how technology tools can provide a strong and effective way to deliver your message. This highly practical course will help you strengthen your communication and presentation skills - creating a more marketable you.
Course Objectives
  1. have identified different types of audiences when presenting - from interview to a group.
  2. have described key factors for powerful communication and presentations (confidence, voice, body language, facial expressions, etc.);
  3. have planned a presentation (opening, body and conclusion);
  4. have demonstrated strategies to understand and involve the audience (questions, humor, storytelling);
  5. have demonstrated effective presentation skills for an interview or presentation.
Outline of Instruction
  1. Types of presentations - knowing your audience (individual, panel or group settings).
  2. Understanding and tips for overcoming the fear associated with interviews and presentations.
  3. Tips for effective interviews and presentations.
  4. Tips for using visual aids.
  5. Preparing to deliver your message: Objective, audience, research, opening, body and conclusion, rehearsing, delivering.
  6. Deliver an effective presentation.
