Description
This course builds on the Group Crisis Intervention course (which is a prerequisite) to provide the latest information on critical incident stress management techniques and post-trauma syndrome. It includes proven strategies for assisting those suffering after exposure to trauma, for EAP, HR and public safety personnel, mental health professionals, chaplains, EMS providers, firefighters, law enforcement, dispatchers and disaster workers who are already trained in critical incident stress debriefing format.
Course Objectives
  1. Cite relevant research finding.
  2. Understand how to manage complex group oriented crisis interventions.
  3. Discuss the nature and importance of incident assessment.
  4. Learn strategic intervention planning.
  5. Discuss comprehensive, integrated, systematic and multi-component of CISM.
  6. Learn concepts of enhanced group processes.
  7. Understand Multiple incident CISD and how to deal with the suicide of a colleague.
  8. In a small group crisis support session, apply skills learned to manage a crisis of a disaster.
