Description
This integrated course helps students gain a broader understanding of IT foundations. As the course advances, course participants are expected to become proven problem solvers capable of managing important IT support jobs and understanding technologies such as networking, security, and virtualization. By the end of the course, students should be proficient in identifying and using best practices to troubleshoot and manage mobile devices, virtualization and cloud computing, hardware, operating systems, software, and networking. Additionally, students should be prepared to take the CompTIA IT Fundamentals , CompTIA A 220-1101 and 220-1102 certification examinations.
Course Objectives
  1. CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ FC0-U61:
    • Identify and explain the basic IT concepts, terminology, IT infrastructure, software development, and database use
    • Demonstrate knowledge to install software, establish basic network connectivity
    • Identify or prevent basic security risks
    • Understand troubleshooting theory and preventative maintenance of devices
    • Prepare to take the CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ exam
  2. CompTIA A+ 220-1101 and 220-1102
    • Install, configure, and maintain computer equipment, mobile devices, and software for end users
    • Service components based on customer requirements
    • Describe appropriate workplace safety and harassment
    • Understand networking basics and apply basic cybersecurity methods to mitigate threats
    • Properly and safely diagnose, resolve, and document common hardware and software issues
    • Apply troubleshooting skills and provide customer support using appropriate communication skills
    • Understand the basics of scripting, cloud technologies, virtualization, and multi-OS deployments in corporate environments
    • Prepare to take the CompTIA A+ exams

Prior to course enrollment, students should have the ability to demonstrate technological literacy in alignment with the Computer Technology Basics for Digital Literacy course or have equivalent knowledge and skills.
