Description
This course teaches skills and techniques for handling one’s own anger – and provides tips and methods for dealing with anger in others. The course focuses on identifying the underlying causes of anger as well as specific patterns, situations, and anger “triggers” that are unique to each individual. Through group exercises, participants will learn and practice a variety of techniques for controlling and reducing the anger response.
Course Objectives
  1. • Recognize the role of individual responsibility in changing maladaptive behavior
    • Develop a working understanding of one's own anger/stress patterns and responses
    • Identify situational anger that consistently results in angry responses that can lead to violent or inappropriate behavior
    • Employ communication skills and listening techniques effectively and gain a better understanding of how children in one's family can be affected by parental communication techniques
    • Examine one's own stress and anger signals and develop the capacity to sense the mood of persons with whom he or she must interact
