Math Club students win in Georgia
Wake Tech Math Club students brought home awards from the Gainesville State College Math Tournament this month. Over twenty students competed in qualifying tests at Wake Tech to earn a spot on the Wake Tech team that travelled to Georgia.
Special thanks to Math Club sponsors: Beth Tsai, Alison Schubert, and Jackie Copeland. A beautiful trophy is on display among the other trophies and awards Wake Tech math and physics students have won. Please visit the Math Club website, http://mathclub.waketech.edu , for more information about the contest and club activities.
To promote Math Awareness Month around our campuses, Wake Tech math and physics students participated in a poster contest to illustrate and describe how they use math every day. Over one hundred students submitted posters. Posters were judged according to the criteria: everyday relevance, mathematical correctness, creativity, uniqueness, and quality. Cash prizes and flash drives were awarded to the top ten winners.
