Wake Tech Holds Annual Career Fair
Event Brings Students and Local Employers Together
RALEIGH, N.C. (Wednesday, April 4) - Wake Tech students and alumni had two opportunities to explore careers and meet prospective employers at the 22nd Annual Career Fair held on April 3rd and 4th on Main Campus. More than 120 employers were on hand for this year’s two-day event, representing the automotive industry, business, IT, engineering, and applied technologies or trades. More than 600 students and graduates attended the fair to network with industry reps, distribute resumes, and scout out job opportunities.
“We’ve seen an incredible variety of employers here this year,” says Deb Hadley, Wake Tech’s Dean of Career Readiness & Employment, “representing a diverse range of career options - and apparently they liked what they saw. Based on their feedback about the fair and our students, we expect a lot of follow-up interviews for jobs and internships.”
Wake Tech assists students and alumni with career counseling and job placement services in fields that align with college programs in business, health sciences, computers, and engineering, as well as technical programs such as criminal justice, culinary, cosmetology, automotive, heating and air conditioning, and more. Wake Tech’s mission is to meet the educational and training needs of its diverse community, and to provide a skilled workforce for area employers. Hundreds of students and alumni attend the Career Fair each year. Historically, more than 90% of Wake Tech graduates are employed within one year of graduation; most stay in the Triangle area.
