Wake Tech Foundation Announces New Board Leadership Team
RALEIGH, N.C. (August 19, 2010) - The Board of Directors of the Wake Tech Foundation begins the new fiscal year with a new leadership team in place. Rachel Selisker, a CPA and 1976 graduate of Wake Tech's Accounting program, has been named Board Chair. Selisker is president of Seamark Advisors. She has been a Foundation board member since 2006 and has served as Vice Chair for the last two years. She received Wake Tech's Distinguished Alumni Award earlier this year.
CPA Arne Morris moves into the role of Vice Chair, having served two years as treasurer. Morris manages a team of financial advisors as Director of Wealth Management Coastal Carolinas for RSM McGladrey, Inc. He has been a member of the Wake Tech Foundation Board since 2007.
Larry Hamilton, also a CPA, becomes the Board's new treasurer. Hamilton has been a member of the board since 2007. He is a partner at Hughes, Pittman and Gupton, LLP and focuses on income tax planning, estate tax planning and business consulting.
The new officers were approved by the Foundation Board's nominating committee and then voted on by the full Board. Responsibilities of the Board include establishing policy, raising and managing funds, fostering relationships with potential donors, and supporting the objectives of Foundation staff. Other board members include Matthew Black, David Campbell, Elizabeth Clay Bradley, W.H. "Bud" Coggins, Linda Coleman, Mort Congleton (ex-officio), Joe Cooper (past Chair), Mike Desmond, Judy Fourie, Jill Heath, Clyde Holt, Jim Ingram, Gary Jordan, John McKinney, Barry Long, Jim Perry, Donna Preiss, Al Schnaidt, Dr. Stephen Scott (ex-officio), Ed Turlington, Elmo Vance, and Walter Wells.
About the Wake Tech Foundation: The Wake Tech Foundation's mission is to partner with corporations, foundations, and individuals to support Wake Technical Community College's institutional and instructional needs. In the 2009-2010 academic year, more than 250 students continued their education with the help of a Foundation scholarship or emergency financial assistance loan. To date, more than 280 employees have received financial assistance to pursue their bachelor's or master's degree, doctorate, certificate, licensure or other professional development through the Foundation's tuition assistance program.
