Foundation Names Two Winners to Compete at State Level

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 13, 2010) - Wake Technical Community College President Stephen Scott recognized 13 employees for exemplary work and dedication in their roles at Wake Tech. Eight faculty members received the college's Excellence in Teaching Award. Five staff members received Excellence in Service Awards. The awards are sponsored annually by Wake Technical Community College Foundation, the college's affiliated foundation, which receives and administers private sector funds for programs at Wake Tech.

Staff and Faculty award winners are as follows:

Excellence in Teaching (Faculty):
  • Olga Harris - Academic Support
  • Linda Hill - Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences
  • Steven Hitchner - Applied Technologies
  • Helen Spain - Business Technologies
  • Walter Rotenberry - Computer and Engineering Technologies
  • Donna Corbett - Continuing Education
  • Mary Pearce - Mathematics and Sciences
  • Lee Wittmann - Health Sciences
Excellence in Service (Staff members):
  • Billie Rand - Administrative Affairs
  • Anthony Caison - Continuing Education
  • Marla Seagroves - Curriculum Education
  • Carol Cutler-White - Office of the President
  • Kevin Brown - Student Services

Each faculty and staff divisional winner received a plaque and a $1,000 award. Two finalists, Wake Tech's Instructor of the Year and Staff Member of the Year, received an additional $1,000 award and the opportunity to represent Wake Technical Community College at the Statewide Excellence Competition.

The two finalists are:
  • Walter Rotenberry, Instructor of the Year
  • Anthony Caison, Staff Member of the Year
This year's awards ceremony included four new awards:
  • Corporate Benefactor of the Year - WakeMed Health & Hospitals -
  • Individual Spirit of Giving - James Holmes -
  • Distinguished Alumni - Rachel Selisker
  • Rachel Selisker -Volunteer of the Year - Kelly Musico
