Team Preparing to Travel to Illinois Next Week

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 13, 2014) - The Wake Tech Eagles are getting ready for the national stage. For the first time in the program’s history, the men’s basketball team is headed to the NJCAA Division II national tournament. The 7th seeded Eagles will play unranked Potomac State on Tuesday, March 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the first round of the tournament. The games take place in Danville, Illinois. 

The Eagles earned a spot in the national tournament by defeating #1 Louisburg College, winning the Region X title last weekend. Head Coach, Joe Mitchell, received Region X Coach of the Year and Josh Mellette was named Player of the Year!  First round of the NJCAA Div II Championship Tournament is as follows: 

TUESDAY, March 18 

 *   9:00am - (2) Wayne County vs. Carl Sandburg

 *   11:00am - (7) Wake Tech vs. Potomac State

 *   1:00pm - (3) DMACC vs. St. Louis

 *   3:00pm - (6) Essex County vs. Dean

 *   6:30pm - (1) Cincinnati State vs. Garrett

 *   8:30pm - (8) Central-Columbus vs. John Wood 

WEDNESDAY, March 19 

 *   11:00am - (4) South Suburban vs. Fort Scott

 *   1:00pm - (5) Phoenix vs. Lake Michigan
