Wake Tech’s Health Sciences Campus Hosts Open House
RALEIGH, N.C. (April 6, 2013) - Wake Tech’s Health Sciences Campus hosted an open house today. Visitors got health and wellness information and free dental screenings. They also learned about the health sciences programs offered at Wake Tech and toured the simulation suite, which features equipment donated by WakeMed. There were also zumba classes, free chair massages, and fun activities for kids.
Nursing was one of Wake Tech’s first programs, and the college has a 50-year history of training the region’s health care workforce. Faculty members from nursing, dental hygiene, dental assisting, therapeutic massage, human services technology, medical assisting, medical laboratory technology, phlebotomy, radiography, surgical technology and emergency medical services programs were on hand to answer questions.
Wake Tech's state-of-the-art Health Sciences Campus, adjacent to WakeMed Raleigh, offers credit and non-credit programs preparing students for careers in nursing and other high-demand allied health professions. Wake Tech partners with local health care institutions to provide students with extensive opportunities for hands-on training and co-op work experiences.
