New Fine Arts Department Offers Evening of Local Musical Talent

RALEIGH, N.C. (October 28, 2013) - Wake Tech Idol hopefuls have braved the auditions and made their way to the next level - the LIVE performance "Grand Finale!" The public is invited for an evening of musical talent as Wake Tech names its first Wake Tech Idol on Friday, November 8. More than 80 students auditioned over the past several weeks and the top 12 finalists will compete for prizes. A preview of the event can be found on Wake Tech’s Youtube channel.

Contestants will be critiqued by three high-profile local judges. The grand prize winner will be awarded up to $1,000 toward college expenses!

Wake Tech Idol takes place at 7:00 p.m. in the Building E Performance Hall. Admission is $5 for students and Wake Tech employees, and $10 for the general public. Tickets are being sold in advance at the Northern Wake Campus, and will be sold at the door. Cash or check only.

Advance tickets are available in the lobby of Building E during the following days and times:

  • October 28 – 1:30pm – 2:30pm
  • October 29 – 5:30pm – 6:30pm
  • October 30 – 3:00pm – 4:00pm
  • October 31 – 12:00pm – 1:00pm
  • November 1 – 2:00pm – 3:00pm
  • November 4 – 1:30pm – 2:30pm
  • November 5 – 5:30pm – 6:30pm
  • November 6 – 3:00pm – 4:00pm
  • November 7 – 12:00pm – 1:00pm
  • November 8 – 2:00pm – 3:00pm

Wake Tech Idol is presented by Wake Tech’s new Fine Arts Department. The department offers the Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) degree with a choice of two concentrations for students to choose from: Music and Visual Art. Both provide a comprehensive and highly-personalized education with the core courses necessary to transfer to a four-year institution.
