Free Tax Preparation Available at Wake Tech
RALEIGH, N.C. (March 1, 2017) - Wake Tech students and community members can get free tax preparation and filing services at Wake Tech. The services are offered through the college’s partnership with the Single Stop program.
Single Stop is a nonprofit program focused on reducing poverty and promoting economic mobility by connecting people to benefits and services with a coordinated, “one-stop shop” approach. Wake Tech is one of only four community colleges offering Single Stop. Tax preparation is one of the many services Single Stop provides. Wake Tech is offering the free service through April 14, 2017, to students and community members who earn $60,000 or less per year.
The free tax preparation and filing services are available as follows:
Main Campus: 9101 Fayetteville Rd, Raleigh, Student Services Building Room 206
Monday–Thursday, 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Friday 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.
Northern Wake Campus: 6600 Louisburg Rd, Raleigh, Building B Room 162
Monday 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Drop-off only at this location. (Drop off your tax info and pick up your completed return the following week.)
Items to bring:
- Proof of identification
- Social Security Card (ITIN may be substituted)
- Wage and earning statements from all employers
- All 1099 and 1095 forms
- Proof of routing and account numbers
- For joint filing, both spouses must be present to sign
- Total paid for daycare provider and their tax ID number
- Copies of income transcripts if applicable
Single Stop’s goal is to reduce external barriers to student success by connecting students with the resources they need – health insurance, child care services, financial counseling, legal advice, and more. The partnership is made possible through a generous grant from the John M. Belk Endowment.
