Rank System Recognizes Instructional Excellence

RALEIGH, N.C. (February 25, 2016) - More than 100 faculty members earned professor status tonight at Wake Tech’s third annual Faculty Rank Induction Ceremony. The college established the ranking system in 2014 as a way to reward excellence and attract and retain effective educators. At tonight’s ceremony, the college named 75 assistant professors, 27 associate professors, and one professor. Each was presented with a special ceremonial cord to be worn at graduations and other formal academic events.

Professorships are determined by a rigorous set of criteria, including innovative teaching strategies, leadership, community service, advanced credentials, and Applied Benchmarking initiatives. Applied Benchmarking is Wake Tech’s continuous improvement process in which employees are required to find best practices at other institutions and apply them at Wake Tech.
