Chinese Educators Visit Wake Tech
January 15th, 2014
RALEIGH, N.C. (January 14, 2014) - A group of educators and administrators from China visited Wake Tech’s Main Campus today, to learn more about the college and its mission to meet the higher education and training needs of the community. The delegation was from Shenzhen Polytechnic, in the Guangdong Province of China, which was one of the first institutions in China to focus on vocational and technical training when it opened in 1993.
The group toured Wake Tech’s Main Campus and visited some programs of study. They met with Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen Scott and told him they chose Wake Tech because of its great reputation. Many of their questions focused on Wake Tech’s role in economic development and relationships with business and industry. President Scott talked about the training Wake Tech provides for local companies, and how industry representatives serve on advisory committees to make sure college programs remain relevant and up-to-date. “Our goal is to help local companies become more profitable by helping their employees learn and acquire the skills they need,” said Dr. Scott. “Our other goal is to help connect our students with jobs.”
Wake Tech Senior Dean of Strategic Innovation Dr. Kai Wang provided translation for the meeting.
