    RALEIGH, N.C. (May 8, 2017) ­- A huge cheering section erupted when Shirley Fuller crossed the stage this evening at Wake Tech’s Spring 2017 Commencement Exercises. The 70-year-old grandmother received an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Business Administration, as 17 family members looked on. Fuller was among 813 graduates who took part in the ceremony at the Raleigh Convention Center.

    RALEIGH, N.C. (April 27, 2017) - Wake Tech Community College recognized students, faculty, staff, and community partners at its annual Excellence Awards – held tonight in the Student Services Building on Main Campus. Executive Vice President Dr. Gayle Greene gave awards to 16 faculty and staff members for their service and dedication, as well as other special awards for outstanding contributions to the college. She also gave awards to four local companies and individuals who have supported Wake Tech in special ways.

    RALEIGH, N.C. (April 25, 2017) - Food, friends, and fundraising! Wake Tech christened the sparkling new kitchen facilities at its Northern Wake Campus with the “Bake Tech Mixer,” a VIP reception, on Tuesday evening, April 25. The event (named for the popular “Bake Tech” video series the college launched last year) raised funds for Baking & Pastry Arts scholarships and program needs.

    RALEIGH, N.C. (April 22, 2017) - Teams of engineering students from Wake Tech and Durham Tech faced off today in a competition that literally got wheels turning! Their challenge: to design and build a “Rube Goldberg” machine that could perform a simple task in a not-so-simple way. 

    The Rube Goldberg Competition featured 89 teams of students working to create a machine that could pop a balloon. The creations had to be developed with at least five distinct steps and had to rely on principles of physics – gravity, force, mechanics, magnetism, sound waves, light, or electricity.     RALEIGH, N.C. (April 19, 2017) -Two Wake Tech students have received national scholarships that will help them launch careers. Casey Alvarez and Pervis Williams, students in Wake Tech’s Heavy Equipment and Transport Technology/Construction Equipment Systems program, have each been awarded $1,000 from the mikeroweWORKS foundation. The foundation was established by the host of the cable television show “Dirty Jobs.” The students were presented with checks at a special presentation on Wednesday, April 19.
